Pro's and Con's. We will figure out if this update is any good, or not. There will be no flaming in this thread, there will be no name-calling, no harassment of age or rank/position, only legitimate responses with proof to back them up will be accepted. This thread is meant to see if this Update truly is bogus, or if it was truly needed. I have one word though; this "New Afterwind", is very much the same as the "Old Afterwind" before the battle system was replaced; you use large stacks and invade as much as you can, rather than countering other stacks and counters, leaving a less strategical experience. So, let's begin, i'll start with 1 pro and 1 con that have been tested or proven:


Pros:

  • 1. "Unbreakable wall glitch" is now gone




Cons:

  • 1. Many strategies now face much testing and nerfing/buffing

Testing and rebalancing is all that this new system needs. I like it much better than the old, it just needs some edits

I know from experience eg. fighting asia from europe, it is good to turnblock asia in india so you can gather troops in middle east... this works in any place where you have a long way to go, like russia, south america, usa mountains etc etc

I think you missed the whole thing about suggesting new units.
"Suggesting new units: keep in mind that we're not planning to add more base units (the ones that you can buy in cities). There will be some additional rare units, though. If you still insist on suggesting units, keep in mind the scale of the game (1 unit = small army, not a single tank) and the fact that units must be unique in some way, without mirroring the currently available units. "Like tank, but stronger" - doesn't work."

One militia isn't taking the city. A squad of milita, say 10 or so, (or whatever unit you use) is actually taking the city.

Great update
Made the "UMG TBing SUCKS" guys shut up about making TB agaisnt the rules and whatnot.
Cons:
People won't shut up and play the game.

so how can't 1 squad of bombers delay a whole army (big stack) in this reality based game or you see a lot of armies that bombs droping on their heads martching like nothing happens?

game is much simpler and easy, somehow eliminates luck (but reintroduces it in other forms)

less time spent on doing tbs/flowering
while it also makes it easier for you to get capped, it is much easier to recap as well.
(If you're a latejoiner) It is a lot easier to be effective as a latejoiner, due to not getting tbed.

Cons: Cheaper strats are maybe a little overpowered
(If you're not a latejoiner) latejoiners can kill you a lot easier now
hard to avoid wallfucks

Pros:

  • Walls are now more important, earning a whole new objective;
  • The game is more rookie-friendly;
  • First turn-blocks are almost impossible, unless players attack with full strenght;
  • No more players losing the game because they couldn't retake their capital, even by having 100 units staying outside of it while 1 militia manages to defend it alone (less luck factor);
  • Defensive units management is more important now;
  • You will need to make more variety of units while traveling long distances (more infantries/militias to wall bomber stacks and destroyers to wall transports in water.
