Duel room

My idea is to make a new room called duel where people can be without an identity and all the player receives a number instead of a name in order to prevent and minimize the phenomenon that players don't play duel because of the name of the opponent

In addition, the players wont know the amount of elo points of the contestant who competes against them so each one will play to the best he can because he doesnt know against whom he stands

If not a Duel room then perhaps a new button that randomly selects any player who is available to duel
and it'll be nice to get rid of duel list in players profile

I agree with Goblin ^.
Chess has ELO, yet there's no incognito thing. Not to mention there probably will be more complaints about trolling haha.
Rewarding for ELO seems good to me as long as it is not related to upgrades or advantages in game. Something like scoreboards, trophies or something like that would be enough, like clans.

Good idea but don't think the unknown identities would work. Maybe the CW room could become CW/Duel room instead of making an extra room.

Ah I see, well maybe it could stay in the main room but with a place on the right above the lobby members where it says for example "Goblin's Duel" then an option to join game as well as its rank limits and map etc.

although the Duel room will require an actual modding and supervision, I dont think there will be any major issues
WF is not a rule set up by the developers so it may not be ethical but one cant judge other tactic since WF is a legit tactic in a war game

Before starting the game you can agree with the opponent about WF, WG, or whatever rule you want him to follow and go ahead and play with the possibility of these rules might be broken

However if you guys insist its bad idea because of WF and other attempts of trolling in incognito mode, I then purpose to have a negative rep button, that can be given only in duels

So lets say you agreed on rules with a player and he break them, you can give a negative rep point, something like bad sportmanship, to remove it the player must play enough games to cover up on the negative points, as many games he play without receiving negative rep point, 1 point will automatically be removed

perhaps because they might try it out more often ? I dont understand clearly why you are against this idea but whatever. everyone is entitled to his opinion and I will not try to convince you to think otherwise

What do you mean you dont understand clearly? I have given plenty of reasons ...duel room is unnecessary and incognito is ridicilous ...would be like asking profesional fighters to wear masks when they step into the ring. I dont want to change my duel game name to "goblins game" everytime so that good players can know to join my game ...i dont want to waste my time fighting random noobs.

Do you understand what effect would removing duel history have? try to think for a moment...

I might havent elaborated about this I thought you will understand it with common sense


Anyway for common users duel history will be hidden to encourage more duels, and not be afraid of losing to an "enemy" or low ranks, etc.

The duel list history, however will be available for mods so they can check wether or not someone farm, and these incognito players obviously will share same IP so if one dare to farm mods can take a look and totally remove all his gained points to its default starting point to deter others

Yes because mods have time to check on each profile, why you wanna make their job harder? i know some people have done that and recieved no punishment or were discovered ...and this is just making it easier because players cant report themself if they find something suspicious.

not convincing argument, mods volunteered to enforce the rules and that they havent punished or done what they were supposed to do in some occasions is something that should not happen
plus as I said they will actually have to spend some time for modding instead of chatting

like one of the examples that caulerpa gave, been strong dosent mean you are a farmer if you beat on less better players, you are fighting any one who is up for a duel to keep your throne high or reach it no matter against whom you face beisdes less skilled players will learn more tricks when playing against someone who is better

What possible effect would this have anyway when there are duel request, private messages with which you can set up a duel even if you become incognito, when you have players that dont want to duel low ranks and weak opponents and certainly not ones with elo's of under 1000.

with Duel room or a special duel button with incognito will result in more players willing to try duel without been labeled as "noobs" and other kind of nicknames
and for the small issue you have with not dueling players that have low elo I have a solution for you set normal game and send duel request during the game

Elo will progress if people start fighting opponents of similiar strenght ...so again, we have to fight for this things:

have to disagree, when 2 noobs play one another they cant learn or better themself when playing against eachother as they could against skilled opponents thus leading to slow progress if any

I'm not a real duels fan since i don't really 1v1, but i guess i would if i didn't know i'd get beaten in 4 turns xD

Actually i supported the 2nd part of suggestion which is very stronk and is what happens in most elo based games.The random matchup when u join a que and the system puts you randomly with another opponent who qued.but being allowed to challenge someone and duel him is an option that shouldnt be remooved so i dont know..

Why? Because i like unpredictability and spontanity. Perhaps a stupid reason for you, being a good duelist and not afraid to duel any single player in this game, but for me, not knowing who i duel with, doesn't make me want to prove myself more or feel worse after losing a game.

You do realize that acording to this idea, after the duel both you and your opponent will know who you were fighting against.

Well, my point of no need to prove myself still stands And yes, i understand you don't like the idea. Let's just agree to disagree on this one, i don't really want to argue over something i'm not into that much anyway (duels)

Support. I would like a random duel make a option of a random duel in game option pack instead of a room. Like a private game.

Duel room sounds like a great idea. I'm a big fan of promoting 1v1 playing competitively, since that's how a gameplay evolves and improves.

Just adding another opinion to the discussion.I sometimes think Goblin can be quite 'passionate' in his responses and the way he expresses himself but we all have different personalities.I have to support Goblin's general opinion on this topic.His argument has a very sound basis.

Firstly he points out that there is nothing really wrong with the current place duels are held etc and this I have to agree with this . I like when I come to the main room and I see Goblin or aqui duelling, I like watching these stronger players and they help me to improve.Before someone says hey but he does not even duel;the reason I have not really dueled yet so much is I am still much to weak for some of those 1v1 and I am learning but when I think I am sufficiently strong I would take great pleasure in dueling Goblin, as it stands I don't see the point of wasting my time and his. So again point 1 from Gob, why create something extra that may be unnecessary and add further complications.

On the issue of incognito I think that is just a bad idea in so many regards;not to mention your suggestion of negative rep, a problem just waiting to explode.In any competition ppl develop IDENTITY , identity plays an important part in any competition and should not be removed. Some ppl have built bad "identities" so as such yea if player does not want to play them it is prob their own fault or it is the choice of the player.In my brief time on atwar so far I know goblin is a player that wont try to take advantage of a disconnect etc, so I would want to play a player like that. Some other guy who only cares about sp and does things differently well he must pay the consequences later if ppl dont want to play with him.

So again supporting some of goblin's main argument, A NEW PLACE, NO IDENTITY , etc is not the way to go.Getting rid of BAD PRACTICES is much more important. I know players for a fact who farm etc. So I have asked myself what is the point of elo, especially when some ppl have great ones but are in fact horrible players.Get ppl to be a bit more honest, DONT HIDE IDENTITY or history etc, so the integrity of duels will be intact and elo etc actually mean something and ppl want to seriously compete for it.Also, finally about that duel request thing yea, I lost two duels in an actual fast game that I was playing and someone sent duel request without me realizing and well yea.. lost..but it was no duel , was just a reg eu game with many players and I was losing. I have already written way to much but I thought I should "SUPPORT" since that seems to be what players do.
