-snip-

So clearly the European Union is entitled to 27 times more carbon emissions than the United States because they are 27 countries and the United States is just one.

Jokes aside, if you cant understand exponential growth and simple math then you are probably stupid.

Jokes aside, if you can't understand antiderivatives and basic calculus then you are probably stupid.

Even if one accepts the premise that the United States is equally entitled to pollute the environment as China (which I do not), China can keep up its current rate of carbon emissions for decades before their total contribution to climate change equals the American. After all, atmospheric greenhouse gas emissions are associated with total emissions, not the rate of emission.

Currently only 170 million of Chinese are driving, the current trend shows almost 50 million new registered drivers every year. China is already leading in emissions, now do the math and predict the future.

I see that China's carbon dioxide emissions have not significantly risen since 2013.

I see that this plateau in Chinese emissions come not in a time of crisis, but in a time when China is recovering well from the Great Recession, as they are continuing to pull million of people from poverty and into the global middle class, as their transportation grows increasingly mechanised and energy-intensive, and as their international trade is continuing to surge.

I can do the projections and project the future, and the future thus projected doesn't include continued exponential growth of Chinese emissions.

Are we just gonna wait until China becomes rich and kills us all, is that it?

So the best alternative to "wait until China becomes rich and kills us all" is "keep the Chinese from enjoying a high standard of living"?

What, exactly, do you think is the entire point of things like alternate energy?

Sure, it's a relatively minor fraction of Chinese energy consumption now, but you're the one who was going on about exponential growth. Unlike China's greenhouse gas emissions, China's photovoltaic capacity is actually growing at a meaningful rate.

Its leading in pollution as well hmm..the air polution is so bad that 1/3 of california's pollution was found to have come from China. Out of almost 50 chinese cities studied only 8 met the appropriate standard. Schools are regularly closing, 1,5 million people die every year and pollution fog is an everyday occurrence now. A foreigner cannot relocate to Beijing without experiencing health implications, its all a big toxic mess, sometimes surpassing 30 times the safe limit.

Just like London in 1900.
Or Chicago in 1920.

Countries that became rich and powerful through a very pollution-intensive development process should not be pointing fingers at other countries that seek to do the same.

Its not my fault that your countries ecological footprint affects all of us. Not my fault you are destroying planet earth and exterminating everything around you, water, soil, air, plants, fish, animals....humans and have the audacity to try an rationalize it and play the victim.

I do not accept the "poor people should stay poor" solution that some people propose to the issue of climate change.

Of course climate change is a large issue, and of course it needs to be dealt with, but I will certainly oppose any attempt to do it at the cost of human development. I find rising standards of living to be a good thing, and like any other good thing I find it perfectly acceptable that we are paying a cost to obtain it.

I remember how harshly you were judging Greece for some petty loans that is really non of anybody's business, except banks. And on top of that claiming collective responsibility by the greek people. That makes you guilty of China's crimes as well, wonder how will you judge your country and yourself for destroying the planet now.

Nice, assuming my nationality.

I'll sit here waiting for you to post evidence of my Chinese nationality before I answer for China's crimes.
