You bypass linguistics principles. There are very few words in english that are English, so you have to be true to their root. Centre for example should be spelled as I did, because The word centre came originally from the spike of a pair of compasses which is stuck into a surface while the other arm describes a circle round it. Greek kéntron meant 'sharp point', or more specifically 'goad for oxen' (it was a derivative of the verb kentein 'prick'), and hence was applied to a compass spike; and it was not long before this spread metaphorically to 'mid-point of a circle'. The word reached English either via Old French centre or directly from Latin centrum. The derived adjective central is 16th-century. From the greek word kentron (not kentorn) passed to latin, then french then english (κÃŽÂντρον). Same with theatre (θÃŽÂατρον) and a lot of other simplified words in american english. One of the few cases that british english fails to be root-faithful are the -ize endings (some may argue about the -ph- instead of -f- too, that was an invention by a single man who spread the transliteration).

China = Republic of China It 's a really ambiguous button doesn't specify which China. So from my understanding Hong Kong, Taiwan, and ALL other Chinas would fall under that button (yes there are other Chinas). And my beef is why is Afria not capitalized, and where's Canada.

Wrong. The People's Republic of China is the China we all know
and fear
while the Republic of China is Taiwan. Notice there's no "People's". It really is quite evil, as even though the Taiwanese people do speak Chinese, they don't consider themselves Chinese and have a pretty distinct culture due to decades of Japanese influence. And mind you, Chinese is not really a single language, like Arabic. Egyptian Arabic could easily be called a distinct language for example. China = evil commies that must be removed from the premises.

Thank you YOBA. a survey revealed that 88% of taiwanese would rather make taiwan a state in the US than a providence in PRC. Mongolians, and people from Tibet generally does not consider themselves "Chinese" I think Mufasa basically means the general chinese race. i hate it when people does that.. -1 rep for Mufasa lol jk:) thats like calling a phillipino an american or a pure ukrainian a russian guessing greek textbooks are more well written than american textbooks wonder why...:wall: once upon a time there was this guy called nixon and he just got a commie friend.. then the next thing u know in taiwan is that stocks fell 85%. but now china's like a 75% democracy country. except the democracy part. chinese people's favorite thing about taiwan is their political entertainment.. its fun seeing people throwing bricks at each other in the house of representatives..

>Soviet Russia >Orthodox slavs Seriously, guise. Religion is the opium of the people, modern Russia is semi atheist/agnostic. Also modern Russians have nothing to do with those Kiev Rus' guys, they are more like a mix between mongols, slavs and some germanics and jews, just like modern greeks have nothing to do with the Byzantine Empire and are the mix of 5% aryan Greek blood and 95% brown Turkish kebab blood.

Well it's almost the same in all decent countries. Orthodox is more of a culture than following a religion.

Mmm, actually no, it is the same only in commie/post-commie/Nordic Socialist countries, where people don't care that much about religion. In Europe average pecent of atheists is about 13-15%, in America it is less than 5%. Also, our culture has very little to do with Orthodoxy nowadays, believe me (as far as you know, Orthodoxy in Russia was almost eliminated during bolshevik rule, this is probably one of a few decent things they tried to do(though I think they would succeed in this better if they've just provided a decent level of life to the population, like they do in Nordic socialist countries, and they have even more ateists than we here in Russia)).
