To clarify my example my opponent picked UK sooo in my head I thought "well I'll pick Germany, cuz all the superpowers like Italy,France,Spain are over there I can get my dingus up in there and I'll be closer to Turkey than him too" so first turn I expanded East and it all went down hill.. basically I'd still love a dedicated mentor, but other advice helps too. When facing these higher rank players do I just take a bunch of ass beatings and hope to learn something or are they just gonna kill me because they got dope upgrades

Hi. Master veteran posting from an alt here. One answer is, It takes practice, And if you use your intellect alone, you will eventually fall short.
You must learn to use your intuition. "Know" what the opponent will do.
That is why playing against me was always terrifying, and lowering morale. Especially for soyllerians.
But the real answer is this:
Even the best players receive abuse and trolling non-stop.
You can do everything perfectly, and some retard will tell you to kill yourself.
I suggest you find another game, with a less dysfunctional atmosphere. Peace

Dont listen to the alts of a banned person
I suggest you find a clan with higher ranked leaders, a community of friends like that in a clan helping one another is how we all learned back in 2012-2013. Or if you prefer to be a loner, there are many many guides on this forum for learning techniques and strategies, and supporters can answer any spacific question you got in game by typing /help (your question here)

To be fair to both of you I do want to play competitive and I also want more info on concepts, I realize it'll be a while before I'm there but I also want to crush people who are my rank and hold my ground/ make the higher ranks work for it

They are not bad they just cant teach you circumstantial things like when to go where and what order to move your units, or how to chain movements to get extra range, things like that, they are useful for familiarizing yourself with things you might not understand about how soacific mechanics work.

So your opinion is to find a mentor within my coalition. I want to honor my coalition they picked me up first. I had orca and crimson Armada send me invites but then retract them, I'm assuming because of my rank at the time which was 3-4
