I wanted to make a neverending world game for the heck of it (It would actually be pretty entertaining) of 500 turns, no alliances, full latejoining. Apparently I cannot do so. While I can see this being a reasonable factor in modern Afterwind, perhaps it would be a useful feature with the next update, where users (specifically me because nobody else is this crazy) could try to create a seemingly "neverending" type of game that could keep people entertained for quite a while and, if done correctly, maybe even become an addicting function of Afterwind. And before people start saying that the lobby would be spammed with these neverending warzones, please note that if any user wanted to create a game that would appear to everyone and stay in it for 500 turns right now, he totally could with the same amount of difficulty (Which is about none). And show yourself the door.

99 turns at 3 mins is 5 hours of gameplay, i doubt anyone will want to play for any longer i played a 70 turn 2 min game yesterday 50k joining till 99 picked up 6.5k sp and i got bored of having people join and not being able to do anything to me with the max 100 troops they can recieve, you would have to join in a group to have any chance of succeeding against the person who is ahead, and eventually no-one will be able to join after i collect everything.

Hence why it is not really necessary in modern AW. However, in the custom maps I had an idea for something that could pull this off. It'll take some work, but it's doable. I'm not suggesting a really long game any one player could play start to finish: I'm suggesting a game where you almost guaranteed won't win, but it would be badassardly while you fight in it. (The end result of 500 turns of latejoining, would probably be that one person wins a whole shit ton of SP, too. Some crazy power struggles may pop up)

I don't see most world games lasting longer than 40 turns. If you take away the places for everyone to latejoin, no one will want to join. Also, the reinforcement compensation mechanic applied to latejoining doesn't allow more than 100 units. If you latejoin me, and I have a stack of 200 bombers waiting to attack someone, you will die instantly.

I dont see how is this useful, the fun of the game is when u have small stacks with the money/reinforcement liability, when games are 50 turns+ it gets so boring.
