After compile some experiences I think that the currently Moderation system need an improvement. There is a growing numbers of trolls nowadays, various issues, and some people blame Moderators for the problems. I think is wrong to blame Mods when they could do nothing - Hence I suggest some suff which can greatly improve the currently Moderation system, so Mods can perform better. 1. The guideliness. The guideline is very old, and need some rules for punish the new troll's way. Also, if Mods are doing a good job why can't we rely on rules, if Moderators act according to them? (because we think that Mods are exemplar players). An official guide which judge everyone equally should be implemented. Some new rules should incluide the use of Ban list, posting shocking links, and making other suff to be more clearn. New guideline also should be more easier to read, and be on a game page insteat of a topic page ( conserving, in the end, the credits to sificvoid). Guide should keep most of the suff it have, such as give the Moderator the last word and interpretation. Also, even if the guide judge punish equally, the history of a player can very well alterate his punishment, making is longer as it is already been doing now. 2. Flag buttom. A small, flag or "report abuse" buttom on everyone's porfile would help a lot. 100 max letters with UBB codes for screenshot. This could very well replace the /report funtion. A player can be reported undefinitery times, and only Moderators can unflag someone. A player who reported the other should be notified by the system that his report got read and/or un-reported. Abuse of this buttom will lead to punish too!. The /report log will be replaced by the flag log, where Mods are able to see people flagged, people un-flagged, and the actions that a Moderator did ( Mute, ban). 3. A log that count player's active time. This could not only be useful for Moderators, but also for clans who wanna recluit. However, this is a future investment as logs cant count the time that we already used. How this will work I have two ideas: 1) Work only when you are in-game, and stop when you end your game. Doesnt work when you are on lobby. If you disconect from game it stop counting. 2) It count when you enter to atWar lobby, and only stop when you log out or you are afk. 4. Notifications. I think the best way to stop a war is with books! Applying this to atWar a player should be notify to read the rules when he log first time on atWar. When Mods mute someone regardless if the player is in-game or no, he should receive a notification. The " You had be muted for x time" notification we receive in-game should be like this: " You had be muted for x time. For avoid future punish, read the guideliness" ( link for the guideliness). The notification which arrives to a player should incluide the same: " You had be muted for x time. Reason:xxxxxxxxx. For avoid future punish, please read the guideline and be nice with others players. cheers!" ( again, link for the guideliness). 5. Filter. A filter on global which censore certain words we already know are bad words, such as "fuck", "ass" and so on. AtWar filter should be more special that other's filters. Like this: When you try to send a message with bad words, atWar notify you that it have bad words writted. But if you type again, the message will be sent + the message will also be notified to Mods, so they can check if is an error filter or you posted somenthing bad. Another filter: You cannot repeat the same text in a period less than 5 seconds. ( I also be noticed certain Mods doesnt have flood control on global. They should!) 6. Reconciler. So, the Reconciller will be a Moderator, choosed by the community certain time(week?months? year?). He must be very friendly and talk with a player regardless if is a noob OR a troll. This modetator will help when a player have problems with another moderator. All three part must be OK for discuss about the punish ( The player, The Reconciller, The Mod), and reduce, increase, lift or leave the currently punish. Reconciler must be disposed to talk with The Player, until the Reconciler consider is enough.

7. Give people some slack, Like once in a year a fresh start at the ''bad history'' For example. Because somebody has been problem player of the month 2 or 3 times. Dont give them 2 days all chats mute for abusing global with hi or whatever and some1 else doing the same just 15 mins global mute. Believe me this has been happen.. But people who like used hacks or farmed 808234k sp dont deserve a fresh start.. but just give people with little things on history a fresh start.

Not anymore this has been discontinued. On topic: Clovis I agree that the mod system could use improvement but I don't agree with any of your specific suggestions(for various reasons). I can post more on why later but I'm on my phone now

Mods have enough power the way it is.. To be honest I feel like this is an empty thread. Many of the players who have beef against a moderator is because they have been muted before, then they will go and cry and bring it to the forums.. The only thing I say is a public record of the list of abusers, so you can laugh at them when you see them take to the forums because they got muted.

Yeah, the numbers of trolls has rised. However, this topic is not aiming for assuming who is bad and who is good, but to make a mechanic where problems can be resolved in peace...
I also though about it, but I think it would be very personal lol...

Problems resolved in peace? If someone abuses global and gets muted they will cry.. If they take it to forums mute them there. How about a 0 tolerance policy? You need to stop trying to appease the abusers (Not you, everyone in general) Mods need to be stricter, and not go afk each time they log on maybe? Speaking of which, reports only get logged when 0 mods are online, please make it log regardless of how many mods are online! I have seen many mods go afk and not answer to my report or other users.

There are some wise word spoken between latins, " La violencia solo causa mas violencia". I think traduced to english would be violence only causes more violence..... probably chinese adage. Mods are supposed to be neutral when judging a player... but oh well that is my though If the flak and reconciller idea get implemented, then there would be no people making forum post about a mod but resolving his problem in peace with the help of another mod... And the flak ( or flag?) buttom get implemented, then Mods wouldnt be in the need to see report logs, but head diretly to the player flagged or reported... As the player will appear on the report list until a Mod un-report him.

There always needs to be a report log.. that means mods have to stop what they are doing no matter what it is and talk to the player... And nice google quotes.

Not google quote... I really believe that if people get teached from the start, the amount of misbehaviors would be reduced greatly. This is an example, I received this pm yesterday: This is why is important to teach people. Sometimes, "help" channel is not enough. I disagree with you, most of Mods doesnt talk with the player. They say " I dont need to talk about this" or " Read the rules". And they are right, they dont need to talk about it. But the player need to be instructed to he know what is good and what is bad. Let look at this example: ► A player that dont have any knowledge about the rule, unintentionally break a rule. ► Mods warn or mute or ban according. ► The player ask, and receive a message like " I dont need to explain " or " Read the rules". Who is acting bad? The player for break a rule that he didnt had knowledge of exist or the Mod for punish someone which didnt know what he was doing? In my opinion, none of the part have the fault. You cant fault the player because he didnt know, nor cant fault the Mod for do his job. This is probably a very recent problem: ► A player make a forum post for blame a moderator. ► A Mod lock the post. ► The player assume that the Mod is begin corrupt and doing what he want. There is a high chance that the player make another forum post. Now think about this: What if the Moderator has refered the player to the rules from the start? There is a rule which doesnt allow a player to open a forum for talk about ANY moderator actions: What then? Will you blame the player for break a rule that he didnt know? or The Moderator, for do his job without explain why? Sure, the player is likery to know that the rule exist - However, the people which are observing, dont know "Why" the mod took that action. If they dont know, they will just think that the Mod is corrupt. This is why I think people need to be teached from the start on a more effective way, and refered to the rules when they commit a misbehavior:
I am not pretending to protect any troll or player, but to point that if the people would be refered - as I suggested - to the rules everytime they do a misbehavior, the numbers of trolls would be lower.

I usually notify the people that have never caused trouble that they are not allowed to do it. If I noticed that player caused another trouble, I give punishment accordingly. Usually just a warning. However, if the player known for causing trouble, and is a repeat offender. The punishment scales up.

The ideas are in principle good, but I have little faith in anyone to come to a coherent conclusion. Also, for #6 I don't think anyone would be able to trust a reconciler, as anyone they were trying to reconcile would think they were in league with the mods, considering they are a mod themselves. Also who would want to be shouted at by everyone who has done something wrong for a month?

Even though the problems against Moderators had grow recently, It is still not very commo that someone wanna discuss about his mute/ban. So I dont think it will be hard to give 2-4 mins for talk... btw, you would be surpriced, there are Mods which are loved by whole community as well as they are very nice.

Honestly all I think we need is a working filter. Sure this is a game for matured players, but considering the number of younger players flooding the game I think this might be necessary. Admins could add the basic words to the filter and make it possible for moderators to add more words to it
