How do moderators make sure screenshots used by map-makers as evidence to ban someone isn't photoshopped?
Because I recently discovered it isn't too hard to make a realistic fake screenshot, so how do mods prevent players from being banned by fake evidence?

Kakaka... maybe we should implement systematic judicial decision-making of appeals and trials.

Spend half a year justifying your ban to the mods, then spend another half a year repeating that same thing because the fool you decided to ban complained to another mod.

Wouldn't it be lovely?

Hey bro, stop it there. We (normal users) have access to game logs. So does Moderators.

If the game never happened, we can see it in the next link:

http://atwar-game.com/users/gamelog.php

Though, let think about the "one in a million" percent that the MapMarker takes one random game in which ALL the winners are friend of the mapmarker. How mods would discover it? Well in this chase it would be very hard I admit... I cannot answer further.

Some of us run basic Image Error Level Analysis.
If SS are to small - not only in the case of map/scenario bans, but also as evidence for reports - I do not accept them as evidence. SS should always include wider areas, more than just the object of report or cause of ban.

Yes, but we can't see which players were in those games. Mapmakers can just point at a random game and say the ban subject was in that one.

I agree, this image has been worked on... semi-transparent upper left corner is indicative for that.
Besides, this SS is not conclusive. It just states - assuming it was not manipulated - that a player joined the game and left the first turn. Could have been a failed multi-player game that started to early with only 2 players in it. There is no evidence of more than 2 players in this game. Wouldn't accept it as a conclusive evidence for a "leaver".

There could be. It always depends for what purpose an image has been photoshopped.
The issue with this image is not really its authenticity but rather that this SS is not evidence enough to make the case of a "leaver". It does not show if there have been more than 2 layers in the game; it does not indicate if it was a legit game that has been affected by the leaving player. That is actually the point.

There is something about people who create evidence against another player which, in my view, is far more malicious and hostile.

I don't think it needs to be said, but apparently there are people (presumably the people who see nothing wrong with fabricating evidence) who are able to justify creating evidence against another player.

Keep in mind, the idea behind any moderator intervention is to make the game more enjoyable for those who play. Not only is a 'photo-shopper' being deceptive, and not only is he ruining the 'target's' ability to enjoy the game, but he's now wasting moderator time, who presumably didn't join AW to begin their own CSI and forensics department.

In my view, if a player has been determined to photoshop with the intent of getting another player banned, it not only should be considered, as Swash says, 'punishable' but should carry the highest penalty AW offers. Those members who photoshop to seek retribution have no place in our community.
