Lets make new mods shall we? as long as we map striking, we might we well have more then 1 goal. lets make one of our goals to add 1 or 2 of our common map makers to the ranks of mods

Let's not get too greedy here. This is over our map making rights, not over who the mods are.

thats why i said 1 or 2 only besides, a mod from common ranks will be a fresh change, its not like i demand new mods and old ones to be taken down

Mods are here because they are mature and competent. We just want them to respect our rights more, not abuse the system.

This was already discussed months ago, and it is hopeless, admins appointed mods and admins can never believe that they did anything wrong so they see nothing wrong with the mods, therefore the mods all stay as they are. And honestly most mods are fine tbh, i can disagree with them and some of them i feel are kinda dicks at times, but only a few I find are really tools but even then the admins would never do anything to remove the mods.

Actually, no. I used to run a small forum of about 100 people. I was admin, and we had elections for mod every two months. However, over time, it became more and more about politics and elections than it did about the actual site. The elections were hectic times that wasted everyone's time and people got bitchy over everything. Point is, running a website as a dictatorship is much simpler because you don't ned to deal with this election bullshit and it is much more efficient, plus you can just as easily take suggestions from the player base. Elections are horrible, and the people who want them have never experienced website elections before.

Basically, having experienced numerous "elections" for mods, I can empathize with the poor administrators trying to execute such an activity, and there is literally nothing anyone can say to me that would change my mind on this.

I wonder what it is you mean by "common ranks". If you mean other mapmakers, we already have a great mod who also happens to make excellent maps, Columna Durruti. If you mean a player from your personal friends group who holds your interests at heart, then apologies but that isn't how mods are/should be chosen.

saying Columna represents map makers is like saying I represent competitive players, just because he makes maps doesnt make him a voice for that community, especially with recent actions putting a ton of map makers on the opposite side as Columna. Also your last sentence is kinda bullshit, everyone knows that mods are not chosen just because of who they are, but also because of their connections, and that mods tend to look to their friends for mods in a bias way.

In all seriousness i do believe we need one new mod.a different one, someone who comes from the ranks of the people.Someone who believes in love and mutual respect.Someone who cares about the poor and the weak.Someone who cares about the enviroment and animals.Someone who listens.Someone who will be there for you.A caring and loving individual.Believe me when i say, we need Khal for mod!

Fuck it just dawned on me, all these mods I see as my friends are not my friends since I am not a mod which in turn means that they must not like me. My life is over. Seriously though here is the fact, 'mapmaker community' is as bad as 'competitive community' in terminology and the connotations that come with it, just elitist BS both ways. I am not in 'mapmaker club' yet have more than 2000 plays, and I am just tip of the iceburg with unrepresented mapmakers. I for one would not like to see anyone mentioned or supporting this 'strike' which is nothing but detrimental to the community overall being in a representative position, burning your own bridges the way I see it.

I'm not saying he represents any group, only that he is a mapmaker. And you're absolutely wrong, the mods are/ chosen for who they are. But the only way to know if someone is appropriate is to do just that, know them personally. My point is that him having a "community of mapmakers" is/and should be irrelevant to the mod selection process. They are not a union and they do not need an elected representative. I won't say the current mod selection process is perfect, but choosing candidates from invented interests groups is a recipe for disaster.

If you look at my previous posts you will see that I agree new moderation will solve nothing, but I do not agree you are perfect or that the selection process is perfect but right now I feel that there is no way to change this that mods would be happy with. I think that it should that the mods listen to the community more. For example, the new rules about ban list, did the map makers ask for this? no we asked for the opposite, and the rule represents a failure to listen to the people in this community. I am sorry but just because you are moderators does not mean that you are the only people who play this game, and the only people who have a say in it. Mods are not here to do whatever they want and enforce policies that hurt the community. I fully support a moderation staff that listens to the community and rules accordingly, not making a ruling then demanding the community adapt to those rules. If the rules are not in the interests of the community then who are they in the interests of?

As far as I know the new rules regarding the banlist are the admins' doing. I for one had nothing to do with it and if I really had the power to enforce the policies I wanted there would be no banlist to argue about. In any case, I agree the staff has a responsibility to consider the community. I don't however think your vocal minority of a few mapmakers = said community.
