Proposed by Sean Spicer:

We should make atWar 3-D. Here's how:

Develop a 3-D tank unit with a semi aerial image, develop a 3-D infantry unit with a semi aerial image, etc.. See:

Expand the encompassed view, but enable the user to use his mouse to view more.

Live-battles.

Maybe, once the user scrolls out to the limit, the map becomes spherical and you have to scroll around a globe, instead of across a map.

I shall grant a $5 stipend for a new employee.

No, no. It wouldn't be THAT interactive, it would be like Risk, applied in a simple way, but in a good way, too. I can't explain, I don't have enough time, but use your imagination and anything can come true.

I see. Well in that case, it does still already exist. In fact at one point I think someone pointed out how strikingly similar then-Afterwind was to Risk II, even their handling of netcode being very similar. Bro, even the tagline is the same! D

I used to play this prior to discovering AW in a facebook ad back in november 2010, and honestly AtWar could still learn quite a bit from it. Nonetheless; All of this is just talk until Dave returns.

Same, but it was Tiberium Wars and Red Alert 1/2/3. Never cared much for the mainline series after Generals became a thing. Good soundtrack, though.

If I'm being honest though Sean, there is so much work that has to done just stabilizing AtWar before any meaningful updates can ever occur. Not only this, but a lot of professional players may become turned off over time as ironing of bugs/exploits becomes a thing in the distant future- which would have to happen in order to make any major overhauls. Not only this, but AtWar has really involved into multiple different types of games in its decade-long lifespan already. Most people already play Paradox games if they want something more involved than what AtWar is- t. Scenario players mostly. The RP and Competitive aspects of AtWar however cannot be found anywhere else in the entire industry outside of RTS games (which lack the Grand strategy aspect) and very old Risk games that are less complicated than AtWar already is.

Because of this, I believe true evolution to AtWar would indeed be expanding it out as the pilot game of a subgenre of Grand Strategy/RTS games. Spinoffs, spiritual successors, etc, are really the only way forward if you want the underlaying formula of AtWar to be different, because right now its already complicated enough for most folks. You would have to make a conducive and specialized experience tailored to a specific gametype (t. RP, Scenarios, Competitive, etc) to really flesh it out more, because things that work in certain gametypes do not work elsewhere, erstwhile the gridless army-moving nature at the core of AtWar remains wholly constant as a staple of not just a singular game, but of a genre entirely.

If we pitch in money to hire a new group of coders, then atWar can be really good. I'll pitch in $5, but I want all my money to go into their income so they code things.

AtWar needs more consistent battle mechanics and a revamp of the strategies. Some more official maps would be good too.
