It's simple. If Afterwind were a separate entity from the browser, an indie game much like Bastion, Braid, Plants vs Zombies, and it was released on an online platform such as Steam or GOG.com, how much would you be willing to pay for it?

I don't consider the phrase "massive fag" to be an insult. Mods did.

Hard question, maybe 14$ (12€) ? The difference between AW as a browsergame and a "real" Game is, released strategy Games have more options. For example Economy, politic Options.
Some "AW-like" Games are Superpowers2, Rulers of Nation 2, Rise of Nations ...
If AW would have a campain, an AI, (ecomomic, spy, alliance gameoptions (also with AI), rendered scenes... i would pay 40€
at the moment AW is just like a game in a game (like C&C3 Kanes Wrath or LOTR2 Battle for Middleearth)
btw whats about a lan mod?

Afterwind's awesome as a browser game, but it simply doesn't have enough features to work as a retail game. As it is now, I'd pay 10 bucks, but if it had more modes, more players, cooler graphics, and more complex mechanics, I'd gladly pay 20 dollars upwards. Unfortunately, that'd be a ripoff of Civilization multiplayer, which I already have. So yeah, I like it as a free browser game.

At the time this post was made, (btw thanks for bringing it up, New York [/sarcasm]) I would have said maybe 5 bucks. With custom maps, I'd bump that up to maybe $15-$20. The update is huge, and adds an enormous creative aspect that you just don't see in other games. As others said though, afterwind (now AtWar) lacks an economic system. The addition of one would make such a game so valuable, it would be a crime to offer it free. I'd pay $40 for such a game.

If on iOS I would pay 14$.
If like upper commenters posted it had AI for NPC moves, better scenarios for single, coop games etc. more units (aircarriers, more stealth, upgradable cities, research etc..)
I would pay on steam only 40$ even.
